Parking was fine using the allocated spot, but it was occupied one day which made driving to the front of the house a bit tricky, wouldn't recommend with a wide car (they are clear about this in the description). House is wonderfully decorated with four big bedrooms, two ensuite. All amenities provided, but we didn't use the TV so can't comment - didn't need to with the amazing views! Couple of minor things that can be improved: mattress in the main bed and a few loose floorboards in the terrace. We had a lovely stay with a family of 5 plus grandparents. Steps are absolutely fine, but could be a challenge for the elderly. Very peaceful and quiet. It was warm in August. Location is perfect, being a few mins walk to Kingswear/Dartmouth (using the ferry).

The house is not suitable for the elderly or the infirm and contravenes building regulations. We were travelling with two 92-year olds and one 90-year old, all of whom are frail and unsteady on their feet - there were numerous steep steps up to the hver más
The house is not suitable for the elderly or the infirm and contravenes building regulations. We were travelling with two 92-year olds and one 90-year old, all of whom are frail and unsteady on their feet - there were numerous steep steps up to the house, with no handrail for most of it, and so none of them could leave or enter the house without being accompanied. Inside there were three sets of stairs to get to the bedrooms + bathrooms and again no handrails so none of them felt able to go up or down the stairs safely without help. This contravenes building regulations and is against the law - see https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/60d5bdcde90e07716f516cfd/Approved_Document_K.pdf for information on the legality of providing handrails for stairs. Building regulations stipulate that handrails should be present on at least one side of stairs less than one meter wide and on both sides for wider staircases. The owner is therefore breaking the law and as their agent you should take responsibility for ensuring their compliance.
Our family members had a couple of falls as a result (one outside and one inside) and felt trapped and dependent - this trip put their safety at risk which I believe was a major issue and should be rectified before others stay at the house. A minor thing - we were given no check in code for the key safe before arrival and had to ring for this. And there were 3 key safes - it would be good to mark the one to access clearly. |
